Buckshot Roulette is a survival strategy horror game that reinvents the classic concept of Russian Roulette by replacing the traditional revolver with a 12-gauge shotgun. Created by Mike Klubnika, the game was first released on itch.io in December 2023 before expanding to Steam in April 2024.
Designed as a short yet intense 15–20 minute experience, the game combines psychological tension, calculated risk-taking, and unpredictable outcomes. Every decision matters, and survival depends as much on strategy as on luck.
GAMEPLAY DESCRIPTION
In Buckshot Roulette, each match unfolds in a dark, immersive tabletop setting where one participant acts as the dealer, managing the shotgun and loading shells. The remaining players become gamblers, wagering “drops” to influence who faces the barrel next.
Two gamblers sit at the table per round. A selected wagerer bets between one and three drops to increase pressure and potential advantage. The dealer then aims the loaded shotgun at the opposing player. The outcome depends on whether the shotgun misfires or discharges either eliminating a player or transferring control of the wager.
After each round, the betting range resets, maintaining suspense and preventing predictable strategies. While luck plays a role, careful observation, bluffing, and risk management often determine survival.
