Kabuto Park is a charming summer adventure RPG where you catch bugs, battle rivals, and explore a beautifully painted world. Relive your childhood summer!
Kabuto Park is a whimsical, bite-sized summer adventure where players take on the role of Hana, a curious young girl spending her August vacation exploring nature, collecting bugs, and engaging in thrilling bug battles. A team of talented indie artists, including Doot, Zakku, Blibloop, and Eupholie, created Kabuto Park, capturing the nostalgic joy of childhood summer days by combining exploration, strategy, and charming visuals in a unique collecting RPG. With strong vibes reminiscent of games like A Short Hike and Animal Crossing, it offers a cozy yet competitive experience packed with bugs, battles, and badges.
CATCH, TRAIN, AND BATTLE
Kabuto Park revolves around three core gameplay loops: collecting, upgrading, and battling bugs. The world is divided into four hand-painted areas, each with around 15 unique bug species categorized as common, uncommon, or rare. Rarer bugs are trickier to catch and offer greater advantages in combat.
Catching bugs involves a simple but satisfying timing mechanic: pressing a button when the moving marker hits the right zone. Each bug has its own stats, species traits, and elemental damage types (e.g., beetles are tanks, butterflies deal wind damage). Once captured, bugs can either be kept or sold for candies, the in-game currency used for leveling.
Combat takes place in a strategic active-time card-based system, where energy regenerates over time. Battles are won by knocking your opponent’s team out of the arena. Every 10 victories earn you a badge and unlock the next area, encouraging progression through each region of Kabuto Park.
